FIRST THINGS FIRST, IS MEMBERSHIP FREE?

Yes membership is free. We do not charge for application to the ADG, we do not charge membership fee’s, we do not charge commission through work gained from this site. We are not an agent or diary service. We are here for you.

I AM EMPLOYED AS A 1STAD, AND SOMETIMES AS A 2NDAD, CAN I JOIN AS BOTH?

Unfortunately the answer is no. You can only apply to be listed in one grade. For example you cannot apply to be listed under 1stAD and 2ndAD, only one of those grades. If you wish to change grades at a later date for example, from 2ndAD to 1stAD, a small admin charge will be made.

WHAT IS THE ADG CRITERIA FOR MEMBERSHIP? (*READ CAREFULLY BEFORE APPLYING*)

The ADG welcomes all applicants, but you do need a strong track record in your chosen grade. In practice that usually means about 10 or more TV drama or Feature Film credits (prep and shoot) or a mix of both in your chosen grade. For example, if you apply as 1stAD you would typically have 10 or more 1stAD credits. As a 2ndAD with a great deal of 3rdAd experience, you may be accepted with much less than 10 credits. Obviously there are other factors which will also be taken into account including the size and scale of the productions. As a rule of thumb, if you are applying as a 1stAD you should no longer be accepting 2ndAD work and should only list 1stAD credits on your CV application. If you are applying as a 2ndAD or 3rdAD you may include credits from both as long you apply in only one grade.

WHAT HAPPENS IF I AM NOT ACCEPTED IN MY CHOSEN GRADE?

In the unlikely event you are turned down in your chosen grade (having read the above) the ADG may suggest you are listed under a different grade. For example, if you apply as a 1stAD but we feel that looking at your credits you are better suited to being listed as a 2ndAD we will suggest this route. The ADG reserves the right to turn down or delay membership for a minimum of 12 months before reapplying.

HOW LONG DO I HAVE TO WAIT FOR MY APPLICATION TO BE PROCESSED?

We will try to let most people know if their application has been successful within 1 month. Because the site is run by working freelance AD’s we sometimes may take longer if for example, we are all working at once.
